I value a non-judgmental, empathic and confidential therapeutic environment that facilitates my client's sense of emotional safety and a collaborative therapeutic relationship. My interventions are informed by psychodynamic and intersubjective systems theory; therapy therefore focuses on understanding underlying unconscious conflicts and its impact on a client's current emotional and interpersonal functioning. I am also trained in and offer other therapies, such as BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® (BWRT), Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
As a therapist and human being with my own interactional style, I am mindful of the mutual creation of therapeutic interactions. I therefore enjoy working collaboratively with clients to understand the meaning of our therapeutic interactions so that we can better understand their current problem and interactions with others.
Your psychotherapy process will commence with two to three 50 minute sessions (90 minute sessions if involving a child and their family). These initial consultations will offer us an opportunity to establish a safe, containing and trusting therapeutic space in which to understand your reason for seeking therapy, your personal history and its influence on your current problem.
Therapy is a voluntary process and we will therefore use these consultations to reflect on and consider if our therapeutic relationship is the best fit for you.
A treatment plan will also be discussed, which will cover topics such as the frequency or length of therapy, which individuals will be involved in therapy, and what form of therapy may be most useful.
My session fees are in line with the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) guidelines. If you have any queries regarding fees, please feel free to email, call or complete the form on the contact page.
